1/3rd scale AIM-9P-3 Sidewinder Air-toAir Missile.

       

Wings, fins, and missile hangers are basswood, nose was borrowed from an old Estes Python and modified to fit the BT-60 size body tube. Aft part of the body where the wings attach was increased slightly in diameter by wrapping 2 sheets of typing paper around the tube.

      

Markings were created again with Harvard Graphics, and printed on clear mailing lables with the trusty old inkjet. And then 2 coats of clear gloss.

         

Designed to use a single Estes E-9 size motor. 

           

Unfortunately, after three successful flights, it lawn-darted in after a chute failure, compressing the body tube. DOA. Still have the nose section, will have to build another.
