Scale model of the Air Force AGM-65G Maverick Imaging Infrared (IIR) air to ground missile. This is basically
the kit from The Launch Pad, except I used basswood for the wings and fins instead of the supplied balsa. Also used
kevlar anchored to the motor mount to attach the shock cord. I made the markings in Microsoft Word, and printed
them on clear address labels on an inkjet printer. Painted the rocket with Krylon gloss gull gray, then applied a gloss
clear coat. Applied the decals, and gave it another coat of clear gloss to seal the markings. Then a coat of clear
flat to give it the proper finish. Masked of the "dome" on the nose prior to the flat coat, so it would have
the appearance of slightly reflective glass. Fairly easy kit to build. Flys on 24mm, D12's up to E30's. Wings
are not as large as on my AIM-4, doesn't weathercock as much. Hope to try it on new Aerotech 24mm "F"
motors when they are available.
